Aussies appear to have the leisure experience all wrapped up - backyard barbecues, lying on the beach - but it turns out we're amateurs compared to Danes.  The Danish have elevated it an art form, and even have a unique name for it - "hygge".

Prounced (roughly) "hooga", the concept is hard to explain because there's no exact same word in English, but it roughly translates to "coziness".

As temperatures nose-dive, so too does your skin’s moisture.  Heating indoors just makes things worse, sucking more humidity out of the air.   But dry and dull looking skin don’t need to go hand in hand with winter – here’s a few simple ways you can keep looking youthful when there’s a chill in the air.

Did you know....

  • Before European settlement, Eucalyptus oil had long been valued by indigenous Australians who used the leaves for various medicinal purposes.  But it wasn't until Yorkshire pharmacist Joseph Bosisto immigrated in 1848 and became obsessed with the powers of this native plant that eucalyptus oil as a medicinal product became a reality.
     
  • Bosisto's Eucalyptus Oil was Australia's very first native export.
     
  • Popular Bosisto’s products of the 1800's included asthma cigarettes (with or without tobacco) and Syrup of Red Gum for ‘bowel complaints’.  A very popular use, especially for influenza, was 2-3 drops of eucalyptus oil on a spoonful of sugar, dissolved slowly in the mouth.

One of eucalyptus oil's most famous uses - and often the first one that springs to mind - is to remove sticky labels.  But have you ever wondered how it does it?

If you're gifted with the ability to fall asleep immediately as your head hits the pillow and don't wake up until your alarm in the morning - you need read no further.   The rest of us?  We're the ones who are woken in the night by thoughts like: "I forgot to put capsicum on the shopping list", and end up in a place that's totally irrational - "My friend didn't answer my text this afternoon, does this mean she hates me?"

It's a mental thought loop which can continue for hours, exhausting you both physcially and mentally the next day.
